City of College Park Part-Time Paid Internship Opportunity

Department of Planning, Community and Economic Development


Application Due Date:  Open until filled.

Location:  8400 Baltimore Avenue, College Park, MD 20740

Compensation:  $15/hour with flexible work hours not to exceed 16 hours per week. Academic credit may be arranged by the student.

Job Responsibilities:  The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Economic Development Coordinator with the following:

  • Marketing
    • Develop and post content for the Shop College Park destination website
      • Visit local businesses to take pictures
      • Compile information about businesses and update site pages
    • Develop content for the quarterly Business Beat and Development Update
    • Update content on the economic development page of the City website
  • Development/Planning
    • Participate in planning projects for commercial districts and neighborhoods including beautification and streetscape projects
  • Outreach and Event Planning
    • Develop and promote topical roundtable meetings for key stakeholders including business owners, landlords, brokers, and residents
  • Research
    • Collect and analyze demographic, real estate, and economic data
    • Implement a new College Park business survey

Qualifications and Skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Publisher
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in a Master's Degree Program in Community Planning or a related field.
